I thought it was a hit to the head and he left his feet a little. Was no need for it with 45 seconds to go. If your going to do it you should be willing to answer the bell when asked not turtle on the ice. Made himself look like a total pu$$y. |

And Dumba gets off free for a high hit where he left his feet. DOPS is a joke. |

I disagree on Smith. The guys tracking the puck way better. There was a few hard saves off deflections he had to make. If they dont like an active goalie who plays pucks Smith shouldn’t be on the ice. It’s part of his game and it comes with risk. The guys battled hard and it’s nice to see him getting rewarded.
Hopefully Ritter bounces back his next game. |

If the f$&king refs call the trip on Backlund the game is over. How that goes uncalled is beyond me. |

I agree. Smith is looking much more confident and making some saves that he was really struggling with earlier in the year.
The Dumba his was not called for with less than a minute left. It's tough to say if he left his feet before contact was made so I doubt he's suspended. It's still a jackass move.
Gio will probably be fined would be my guess? He doesn't have a history at all of dirty plays, i don't believe for a second that he's a player that sticks his knee out to hurt, but it wasn't a very good play and Koivu left the game. I hope he doesn't get a suspension.
Two big games this weekend. Nashville is within reach for 1st overall in the West. |

Well the refs had a weak game last night from the beginning to the end! But my god monahan BE a little more self selfish and shooting the puck in the empty net. Kinda disappointed that not one player on the ice went after dumba! IT TOOK LOMBERG To jump over and go after the turtle🐢 |

If you watch the replays, two guys did... On every replay they cut to another angle so i couldn't tell who. It just wasn't the fervor that Lomberg had... Dumba skated away and up to the neutral zone where Lomberg grabbed him.
To me the issue is, there's 43 seconds left, he did leave his feet and as a result got the head. Had he stayed planted, I don't think there's much of a debate outside why. |

It's getting old to see people still complaining about the Flame's goalies. They're top 10 in the league in goals against and would be top 5 if you ignored the 9-1 game. Save% is also a pointless stat to look at since the way the Flames play, doing a great job of limiting shots but way too many defensive breakdowns, it's going to be impossible to maintain a great save% playing behind that.
You're really complaining about a goalie after a shutout and 5 wins in a row where he let in 2 or fewer goals in every game he started?
Hasek sure flopped around a lot and never looked comfortable, and he did alright. Who cares how they look if they're making the saves. |

Tkachuk has done the same before so I hope you call him a coward too.
Anyway, the Flames are getting slept on, I don't think a lot of people outside of Calgary realize how well they're playing so far this season. If they get solid goaltending all year and Neal gets going then they'll be a problem in the West for NSH/WPG |

Dumba's hit was disrespectful and unnecessary but completely legal. If they want to get rid of those hits, they need a rule like the defenceless receiver rule in football. |

I think there'd be a lot of backlash against that, taking big clean hits(not saying this one was 100% clean) out of the game just because a guy has his head down would not go over well with a lot of fans and people involved in hockey.

Sorry to hear about the Kootenay Ice planning to move. |

Just a quick timeline of the recent outcomes from horrendous officiating:
- Hamonic elbowed and nose broken by Kunitz (no suspension)
- Giordano knee (suspension)
- Backlund blantantly tripped on an empty net which should be automatic goal (no penalty)
- Dumba headshots Backlund (no suspension, let alone a FKN penalty!!!)
- Lomberg jumps Dumba (suspension)
I understand the flames suspensions but I do not in any universe understand the lack of calls/suspensions when the flames are the target. You want to send Gio out for knee then you best fkn send Dumba out for a headshot or MAKE A FREAKING CALL ON AN EMPTY NET PLAY!!!! |

Of course there'd be a backlash, but there's not really anything else to do. It was a clean hit that was as bad as it was because Backlund was leaning forward and defenceless. There was nowhere else to hit him but his head. |

And on the Smith note - I still believe Rittich should be the starter but gotta give the guy credit he made some big saves last night right in the slot. I think it was one of his better performances this year. |

Puck was gone so not legal - interference at the least. |
